I’ve been training since April, riding tens of miles most weekends, and it paid off. I managed to cycle all the way to the Suffolk coast, I did the Dunwich Dynamo! Five flat tyres was pretty unlucky though! Maybe I should try again next year and try and beat my time?
Last November, in Victoria Park, my first event. 5k run. Finished in 35 mins. Not bad!
Like lots of people, I got a little bit obsessed with the Olympics this summer. I spent hours in front of the telly, watching athletics, swimming and cycling.
I also discovered a passion for sports that previously I would have just fallen asleep in front of. Think archery, judo, equestrian events. Never before have I watched and enjoyed so much show jumping! It got me thinking. How do people get into these sports? Where does one discover a talent for riding a bike around a slope-y track, or jumping over a 6m bar using a bendy pole?
The Challenge is this: before the Rio Olympics in 2016, I will try my hand at every London 2012 Olympic sport and I will try these sports at facilities that are local and accessible. Simple!
This blog will be where I post all my successes and failures (and I’m sure there’ll be a few of those!). I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy doing!
